The MSSRT YSL programs are for 6-11 year olds.  These programs are designed to develop fundamental skiing skills that provide young athletes with the tools become strong all mountain skiers in addition to good alpine ski racers. The programs emphasize fundamental skill development and teach technical and tactical race skills. The program options include a 1-Day (Saturday or Sunday), a 2-Day (Saturday and Sunday) and a 3-Day (Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday Night). All YSL programs include coaching at home races and all EEYSL races.

ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Athletes should be able to ski intermediate terrain in most conditions. The athletes must also be able to load and ride the lift alone, use the restroom alone, and put on and take off their skis.

EQUIPMENT

One pair all-mountain or junior race skis is sufficient for U8-U10. Some athletes choose to purchase a pair of Slalom and Giant Slalom race skis. U12’s in the YSL program should purchase a pair of junior Slalom and Giant Slalom skis. Powder skis and twin tips will inhibit skill development and are not recommended. HARD EARED HELMETS, goggles and poles are required. Shin guards are optional. Boots are the most important component of your equipment. It is very important that the athlete can flex the boots easily and that the boots are not too big. Oversized boots and boots that are too stiff are the most common constraints to skill development in young athletes. Our coaches and staff are available to answer equipment questions.
