SSRA BRINGS EEYSL TEAM TROPHY HOME
March 22 (Lookout Pass)- SSRA clinched the Emerald Empire Youth Ski League title on Sunday at Lookout Pass. It was the 7th time that SSRA has won the team title since its inception in 1997. The team trophy is contested by the 7 EEYSL Teams (SSRA, FAST, SARS, INDY, BART, LPRT and SMART). After 9 races, SSRA led the league and claimed the cup. "It is a testament to our team's development, our coaches, our families, and our athletes. We are extemely proud of our team and what they have accomplished," said SSRA Executive Director/Head Coach, Chuck Holcomb. MCCLELLAN REPRESENTS AT U16 CHAMPS
March 22 (Bend, OR)- Cole McClellan represented SSRA and the Pacific Northwest Ski Association (PNSA) at the Western Region U16 Champsionships at Mt. Bachelor, March 22. The four-race event brought together the best who qualified from the five Western Divisions (PNSA, Far West-CA/NV/HI, Intermountain-ID/UT/WY/NV, Northern-MT/WY, and Alaska-AK). McClellan led the athletes representing Inland Northwest teams in all three races and was consistently fast. In the Super G race, McClellan posted a strong 30th (10th for PNSA athletes) place stopping the clock in 1:09.70. The race was won by PNSA's Walter Lafky (MBSEF) in 1:07.22. Cole took 34th in the giant slalom (6th for PNSA) recording a time of 2:21.46. Winston Pretti from the FarWest Division won the race in 2:11.11. McClellan again led the Inland Northwest with his stongest performance of the championships popping a 21st place in slalom (5th for PNSA) stopping the watch in 1:39.59. U14's SHINE AT BUDDY WERNER CHAMPS
March 12-15, 2015 (Spokane) Twenty of the finest U14 athletes in the Pacific Northwest traveled to Schweitzer for the annual Buddy Werner U14 Championships. The annual event brings together teams from across the Pacific Northwest Ski Assocaition and ski areas from Oregon, Washington, and North Idaho. SSRA had one of the largest teams in the event with 13 boys and 7 girls competing. After three days of racing, the SSRA men took 2nd overall out of 20 teams. The SSRA women took 5th place and the SSRA Combined team finished a very respectable 4th. FARLEY; SCHEIDT LEAD PNSA AT CANAMS
March 15 (Apex, BC)- Jared Farley(left) and Hunter Scheidt (right) provided leadership and fast runs at the 2015 CanAm Championship races at Apex, British Columbia. The March 13-15 event included a super g, giant slalom, and slalom. In the Super G, Jared Farley led PNSA with a 50th place. Giant slalom was next with a PNSA-leading repeat performance for Farley stopping the clock in 44th place. Scheidt was close behind crossing the line in 50th place. The event ended with Sunday's slalom. Scheidt led SSRA and was 2nd for PNSA when he took 52nd place in the two-run cumulative time. Hunter moved up from a start position of 70th
TEAM CHARGES FORWARD AT LOOKOUT
March 8 (Lookout Pass)- The SSRA team travelled to Lookout Pass on Sunday, March 8 for a one-day Emerald Empire Youth Ski League GS race. The team maintained their lead as they attacked the GS piste in brilliant sunshine. Results: Womens GS Mens GS EEYSL Team Standings EEYSL Individual standings The U14 men were led by Jack Dale (1st), Ben Lewis (2nd), Caden Goranson (4th), Johannes Liaboe (5th), and Henry Schafer (8th) The U14 ladies swept the podium with Daria Markewych taking the win, Ginny Lou Garabedian in 2nd, and Isabell Simpson in 3rd. Olivia Ellingwood and Grace Harrill rounded out the podium finishers. Maya Peck was crowned U12 girls champion taking gold in the race. Marion Garabedian was a solid 5th place! Bylaw Amendment Membership Comment Period: SSRA BOD has voted to amend the SSRA Bylaws. The amendment request is to increase the SSRA BOD positions by 2. MCCLELLAN QUALIFIES FOR U16 CHAMPS; FARLEY, SIMPSON, SCHEIDT GET NOD FOR CAN-AMS
February 24 (Spokane): Cole McCllelan was selected as one of 21 men to represent the Pacific Northwest Ski Association (Oregon,Washington/N. Idaho) in the 2015 Western Region U16 Championships. The event takes place March 18-22 at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon and brings together athletes from 11 western states. Jared Farley, Scot Simpson, and Hunter Scheidt were invited to represent PNSA in Canada at the U16 Can-Ams. "Congratulations to all of our U16 athletes; Cole, Jared, Scot and Hunter. Ski Racing is a lot of fun, and it takes a focused and sustained effort over time to be a really successful ski racer. All of the boys have worked hard since summer training camps and put in the time necessary to reach these goals. They are outstanding athletes and remarkable young men," said Chuck Holcomb, SSRA Executive Director/Head Coach.

FARLEY, MCCLELLAN TAKE IT UP A NOTCH, DOWN SOUTH
Feb 16-21 (Bend, OR) The SSRA boys team travelled to Mt. Bachelor to compete in the second round of U16 Qualifiers Feb 16-18. The races, originally scheduled for Mt. Hood, were moved to Mt. Bachelor due to low snowpack. This race was the second and final series to determine which 21 men and 20 women will represent the Pacific Northwest Ski Association in the Western Region U16 Championships taking place March 18-22 at Mt. Bachelor, and the U16 Can-Ams taking place March 12-15 at Apex, BC, Canada. In the giant slalom, Jared Farley was tops for SSRA men with a 13th place finishing in 2:06.51 in a race won by CMAC's Devon Toribio in 2:00.53. Cole McClellan was 2nd for SSRA men in 22nd place in 2:03.53 followed by Hunter Scheidt in 30th (2:10.17) and Scot Simpson in 37th (2:13.16).
