All SSRA FIS Juniors, Juniors and Jr. Development (DEVO) athletes are invited to attend the 8th Annual, 2006 SSRA Banff Early Winter Training Camp taking place November 17-26! This yearly team event provides an exciting start to the season. And, over the past seven years, it has become a favorite amongst SSRA Junior and DEVO families! Last November, we had our largest group attend to date, and the everything from the training to our experience at the men's world cup downhill were life-long memories.

For those who have never participated, the Banff Fall Training Camp is our most affordable camp of the entire year and is arguably the most fun; not only for athletes, but for the entire family. The Banff, Alberta area is a beautiful, winter resort playground with countless activites. Nestled in the awe-inspiring Canadian Rockies, we could not find a better location! And a special part of the adventure is getting to watch the Mens World Cup races at Lake Louise. World Cup competition visits North America only 2-3 times per season and it is a truly unique experience to watch the best in the world compete in our favorite sport!  Click here for a complete list of Banff area activities.

The purpose of the camp is to have fun while preparing for the upcoming season. Athletes return from this camp with a competitive advantage; a "jump start" to the winter. And, for juniors, it provides much needed training preparation for PNSA races taking place just three weeks later.

The snow is manmade and firm; perfect for training purposes. This is a huge attraction for us as we don't get consistently hard snow in the Pacific Northwest. These conditions allow athletes to feel the cause and effect relationships of effective and ineffective balancing movements and movement patterns. And, new for 2006-07, Norquay will provide B-net protection on the training venues...a welcomed safety improvement!

Furthermore, Banff is an outstanding training atmosphere. Athletes from around the world come together to take advantage of the opportunities in the area. All of this contributes to SSRA athletes being more prepared for training at Mt. Spokane and for competition once the season begins.

The Banff Camp is a great time for all and an experience that you will never forget. We encourage you to attend and start the season off with a bang! Let me know how I can help by calling (509) 979-7499.
