SSRA HOLIDAY CAMP WRAPS UP 2015

December 27-31 (Mt. Spokane)- The annual SSRA Holiday Camp brought the year to a close in a very snowy way! The camp began with the annual Ski-A-Thon fundraiser. The event took place from 8am to 11am with groups skiing as many laps as they could during that time. Some groups got in 12 runs! Special congratulations to the top pledge earner, Johannes Liaboe. Johannes collected $440! Thanks to all who did their best in raising money for the team. The event brought in over $6,000. And, it was a blast seeing everyone in their costumes.
The next three days brought outstanding training conditions. The Alpine and DEVO (U14/U12) groups began the days early with speed training on the chair 2 side. Each morning athletes would load at 7am and train Super G for 2 hours. Some athletes were clocked on the radar gun at nearly 70 mph. However, we were able to provide an excellent speed experienc to the entire range of athletes despite their age, ability, or experience. This incredible opportunity was only possible due to the remarkable relationship with Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park! Groups also took the skills quest, as well as trained slalom and giant slalom. Special thanks to Charlie Karavitis and the grooming crew for building our wave track and terrain on Hourglass!
The camp culminated on the last day with our annual Holiday Camp GS race. The event was an incredible success due to the hard work of so many of our SSRA volunteers. Thank you to all who helped out. This was the most successful Holiday Camp race we can remember!! Congratulations to all of the athletes who charged two runs in perfect conditions on Hourglass. For complete results, click here.
