BARRY B-NET CLINIC SET FOR NOVEMBER 3rd
A representative from Barry Cordage will be visiting Spokane to educate the local teams in proper installation and use of Barry B-nets. The clinic will take place on Thursday, November 3rd, at 6:30 pm, at the offices of the Hotstart Company located at 5723 E. Alki Avanue, Spokane Valley, WA. SSRA has invested substantially in new nets (we now have 20!) and we are striving to have all coaches, race officials, and as many parents as possible, educated on how to use them. IMPACT TEST SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 30
An Impact Test, baseline neurocognitive test is planned for Sunday, October 30, at 3:00 pm. The test will take about an hour and will take place at St. Thomas More School. For directions, click here. All FIS Juniors, Juniors, Junior Development (DEVO) are required to take the test (or have taken it last year). Also, any 10 or older SSRA athlete is invited to attend. Baseline tests are good for two years.

This event is the championship for Western Region racers ages 13-14. Racers from the five divisions of Western Region (includes 10 states) field teams using divisional quotas. SSRA ATHLETE QUALIFIES FOR WESTERN REGION J1/2 CHAMPS
Bogus Basin, ID; March 8-13
This event is the championship for Western Region racers ages 15-19. Racers from the five divisions of the Western Region (PNSA, Alaska, Northern, Far West and Intermountain) field teams by divisional quotas. Joseph Estrella was selected and will compete beginning tomorrow at Bogus Basin, Idaho. This is a prestigious event, and one for which Joseph has qualified in his first year of eligibility. The Pacific Northwest Ski Association (PNSA) takes only 30 men (and 23 women) to this event. Joseph will compete in 2 SG, 2 GS and 2SL. Way to go and good luck. Go FAST!!

The SSRA's largest and mostimportant fund raiser of the year, the dinner auction, is now slated for Saturday, February 12th. It will be held at the Lincoln Center in downtown Spokane. Sonny Varadan, Jeff Mamola, and many others are working hard to make this event a memorable evening for every member of SSRA. This year's theme is..."You Make My Heart Race!"

SSRA CLUB RACE #2 -SLALOM
SSRA will host its second club race of the year on Sunday, February 6th. It is a one-run race and we are planning to be wrapped up with awards by 2:30 pm.
What: SSRA Club Race #2; it has been changed to a SLALOM
When: Sunday, February 6th
Who: Only J4's, J5's and J6's will be racing due to the fact that we will be using 54 cm gates (shorties)
Awards: medals for top ten places for J4's, J5's and J6's
Cost: $10 plus online convenience fees, or $15 on the day of the race.

Ski A Thon: Friday, December 31st
Wear your best costume and make laps to raise money for SSRA!
Every SSRA athlete is asked to get at least $100 in pledges for this annual SSRA fund- rasier. It is a fun morning where athletes try to ski 20 laps before noon. We load early (8am)…so remember that the lodge opens early to allow folks to get ready, register, and turn in pledges. This year there is a new perpetual trophy for the most pledges. We will have prizes for the most pledges (top 2), the group with the most pledges per athlete, and the best costume!
Club GS Race
Every SSRA age class athlete will race in the GS race after the ski a thon. This means all DEVO, YSL and INTRO athletes. Juniors and FIS Juniors are welcome to race. Parents are welcome to race, as well as children not otherwise enrolled in SSRA. All you need is to register, pay the entry fee, and wear a helmet. You can pre-register online, or on the morning of the race. Athletes will inspect the course at 12:30 with coaches. The race begins at 1pm. Awards will follow the race.
SSRA TRAINING BEGINS ON DECEMBER 4-5!
Full-time Youth Ski League, Youth Ski League, and Introduction to Ski Racing Groups begin on December 4th and 5th. More information will be provided soon regarding meeting times and locations. With all of the new snow, it promises to be an outstanding opening weekend for SSRA!

The annual SSRA registration night will take place on Wednesday night, December 1st in the Kress Gallery, behind the food court, on the third level of Riverpark Square.
It will begin at 6:30 PM and conclude by 8:30 PM.
Mt. Spokane will be there to offer season pass sales and photos to SSRA members. Thank you Mt. Spokane for this exclusive gesture to SSRA!
We will also plan on team coat distribution, auction material distribution, night training van sign up, among other things.

VAN BRASSINGTON TO JOIN SSRA COACHING STAFF
Welcome to veteran ski coach and leader in the industry, Van Brassington. Van joins us most recently from Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club. He has also coached with White Pass Ski Club and National Alpine Ski Camp. Prior to his career in coaching, Van served as the Western Region race representative for K2 skis. Van joins the team to primarily work with FIS Juniors and Juniors. Please join us in welcoming Van to SSRA and Spokane!
