March 30-31 (Government Camp, OR) Twelve SSRA U16 and U14 athletes travelled to Mt. Hood's Timberline ski area to compete in the 80th annual Golden Rose ski races. The special Evergreen Cup series features 4 slalom races in just two days. The SSRA Team arrived a day early to train after nearly 6 weeks off of snow.

In women's race A, Ali Gunesch (MHA/Brown Univ) won the race in 1:12.27. Isabell Simpson took top honors for SSRA finishing in 41st overall (12th U14, 8th 2001) in 1:27.24. On the men's side Luke Winters (SBA/NTG) took top honors in 1:10.49 while SSRA athletes were paced by Jared Farley in 18th place (7th U16, 6th 1999) in 1:19.66.

Race B found Alexandra Oseland of CMAC on top of the results with a time of 1:11.28. Isabell Simpson again led the SSRA women with a 40th place time of 1:28.47 (9th U14, 6th 2001). River Radamus of the NTG (National Training Group) stopped the clock in 1:13.77 to clinch the men's victory with Cole McClellan making an appearance on the front page with a 12th place finish in 1:19.59 (2nd U16, 2nd 1999).

On Sunday, the team competed in races C and D. In race C, Ali Gunesch (MHA/Brown Univ) repeated her Saturday gold medal performance. Izzy Simpson led SSRA with a 42nd place finish stopping the clock in 1:28.15; good for 12th for U14's and 8th for her year of birth. Michel Macedo (Brazil) took the men's race in 1:06.25 while SSRA ranked Cole McClellan in 16th with a combined time of 1:11.29 (4th for U16's and 4th YOB). 

Race D made Alex Oseland (CMAC) a winner in 1:14.44 chased by Isabell Simpson of SSRA in 44th with with a time of 1:30.78. For U14's Simpson was 14th and 8th for her year of birth. The men's race was led by Christian Hanseler of CMAC with a time of 1:07.12. Cole McClellan led the SSRA men with another top 15th finish, ranking 13th after two heats.
