U14's SHINE AT BUDDY WERNER CHAMPS

 March 12-15, 2015 (Spokane) Twenty of the finest U14 athletes in the Pacific Northwest traveled to Schweitzer for the annual Buddy Werner U14 Championships. The annual event brings together teams from across the Pacific Northwest Ski Assocaition and ski areas from Oregon, Washington, and North Idaho. SSRA had one of the largest teams in the event with 13 boys and 7 girls competing. After three days of racing, the SSRA men took 2nd overall out of 20 teams. The SSRA women took 5th place and the SSRA Combined team finished a very respectable 4th.

 Reilley Anderson took 8th in SG, Ben Lewis finished 9th.  | 
 In the men's super G three SSRA men finished on the first page. Reilley Anderson and Ben Lewis led the SSRA men placing in podium positions of 8th and 9th, respectively. Johannes Liaboe rounded out the top 15 wtih a 14th place finish. Caden Goranson was next with a 30th place finish (12th for 2002 YOB), followed by Tommy Kasimov in 32nd (14th 2002), Jack Dale in 40th (18th for 2002's), Jake Mamola in 45th, Aditya Varadan in 55th, Sam Cox in 63rd, Trenton Gardella in 64th (31st amongst 2002's), Drew Farley in 69th, and Adrien Regelbrugge in 71st (35th for 2002 YOB). On the women's side, Daria Markewych paced the SSRA women with a strong 11th place finish. Isabell Simpson supported in 28th, Amy Farley in 44th (15th amongst 2002 YOB), Oliva Ellingwood in 91st and Grace Harrill in 94th.

 In giant slalom action, the SSRA women were led by Ginny Lou Garabedian with a fast 15th place finish (5th in her YOB). Daria Markewych was in hot pursuit in 17th place with Amy Farley not far behind in 32nd (11th for 2002's). Isabell Simpson took 38th place, Rachel Ewers finished 57th (22nd for her YOB), Grace Harrill recorded a 92nd, and Olivia Ellingwood stopped the clock in 94th place. The men were led by a 16th place finish by Johannes Liaboe. Next was Jack Dale in 18th (9th for 2002's), William Dexter in 21st, Ben Lewis in 23rd, Tommy Kasimov in 29th (13th for 2002 YOB), Caden Goranson in 33rd (15th for 2002's), Jake Mamola in 34th, Aditya Varadan in 36th, Trenton Gardella in 53rd (25th 2002), Drew Farley in 54th, Sam Cox in 65th, and Adrien Regelbrugge in 68th. Special congratulations go to William Dexter who won the move-up award for starting 92nd and finished 21st!  |

 Reilley Anderson took bronze in the men's slalom.

 In the final day of racing, SSRA took to the top steps with Reilley Anderson swiping bronze in the mens slalom. "It has been a long road back for Reilley after a difficult accident only 14 months ago. We are incredibly proud of Reilley and know that this is only the beginning of the next chapter of acheivement for a very talented athlete," remarked SSRA coach Chuck Holcomb. Next was Ben Lewis in 11th, Jake Mamola in 12th, Jack Dale in 16th (4th 2002), Tommy Kasimov in 17th (5th 2002), Johannes Liaboe in 18th, Trenton Gardella in 35th (13th 2002), and Sam Cox in 37th. Holcomb continued, "The SSRA men came out with something to prove on Sunday. Six of them stacked into the top 18 and showed the division that they are the team to beat. We even had two athletes who were had tough luck, but had top 10 fastest runs. Watch out for Caden Goranson and Aditya Varadan in the future." The SSRA women made a statement on Sunday as well. Isabell Simpson led the attack with a 15th place finish followed by Amy Farley in 19th (8th for 2002's). Ginny Lou Garabedian was next in 24th (11th for 2002's) with Grace Harrill in 49th, Daria Markewych in 50th, and Olivia Ellingwood in 63rd.
